create more birthdays

1

I am excited to be a judge for the American Cancer Society's Create More Birthdays Contest since like most people, cancer has affected my life in many, many ways. They are asking people to create either a music video or a piece of artwork inspired by the fight against cancer. You can see more information here and over at Design Mom. Other Judges include Poppytalk, Design Milk and Shutter Sisters. The winners will have their work displayed online by the American Cancer Society. Last day to enter is Sunday! Thanks!

  1. Wish I had known about this sooner! My sister-in-law was diagnosed with peritoneal mesothelioma in 2006 then again in 2008, she is the strongest person I know and is winning her battle against cancer. My mom was diagnosed with melanoma in 2007. She wasn’t as lucky, she passed away only three months after her stage IV diagnosis. Although it’s too later for me to submit, I look forward to seeing the artwork inspired by this disease that affects so many of us.

  2. What a great project! I was given 3 months to live at the age of 7 due to cancer. Beat that one and got it again at 25. Now that I’m in my 40’s and seem to have yearly health problems due to treatments I received at 7, I celebrate each birthday with a passion. Well, then again, I think all birthdays are the best and should be celebrated to the fullest. I look forward to seeing the work.

By the way if you knit or crochet, I’m collecting hats for my community art piece, The Red Thread Project®. All that are collected for the performance are then donated to charity, including pediatric and adult oncology departments.
