flower of the week: buttercups

I love weeds! After I plucked these buttercups from the roadside, I stuffed them into this antique baby cup. They are really cheery to have around.

  1. i love your flower photos, too. we had a small patch in our garden and people wanted me to pull them out because they were ‘weeds’, but they are such sweet flowers.

  2. no, not weeds! they’re beautiful wild flowers! they’re even pretty when they start to drop their brilliant petals. lovely photos.

  3. I remember these flowers as the ones we kids would put under our chins to see if we love butter..the bright yellow would cast a yellowish glow on our skin! Sweet idea to use a baby cup too. 🙂

  4. beautiful. isn’t it wonderful finding such treasures on the road side, and being able to enjoy them at home. yellow flowers are so joyous to have around – we still have some in our bathroom that we picked almost 2 weeks ago.

  5. I love wild flowers! There’s something mysteriously beckoning about them. They look so delicate, yet they must be strong enough to live free in the wild! Unlike their formal sisters, they don’t need human hands to survive.

Your buttercups are fantastic! They are so beautiful! I’m so glad you stopped to pick them; for now we get to enjoy them too! How nice of you!

It just occurred to me that this is the epitome of the blog world. Now we can share our smallest and deepest joys with whoever reads our posts. How wonderful is that? Sorry, I’m a newbie.

    Have a lovely night!

  6. I would love all weeds if they looked as lovely as this. Thanks for sharing.

  7. these little weeds are adorable. i love love love your flower posts!

don’t know if you remember me but we worked together about a year ago on the garden shoot with nicole in utah. i did the hair 🙂
    i love your blog!

  8. Chelsea, I love love love the flower of the week feature. Especially since I’m a fellow Oregonian…if you find something fabulous I can probably track it down pretty easily too 🙂 Keep it up! Your blog always brightens my day.

  9. gorgeous. i could have used your styling help last week as i cut some lily of the valley from my garden ….. looked “interesting” in the vase, as i clearly didn’t know what i was doing.

  10. I’m also a fan of buttercups. There’s a whole whack of them along the sidewalk by my apartment, and every time I pass I’m tempted to wrestle off a bunch or two. They look perfect in that little cup!

  11. If you ask me, they’re only weeds if you don’t want them around. I think they’re wonderful. I love the yellow, and they look adorable in that antique cup!

  12. I love the comment from Martha B. I remember sitting in fields of grass and buttercups at recess trying to reflect the yellow on my chin to see if I liked butter. 🙂
Yellow Buttercups bring back fond childhood memories, and plus, they are such a sweet delicate flower.

  13. Buttercups are such a childhood favourite… Hours of sitting on the lawn holding buttercups beneath each others chins to see if it betrayed a love of butter!

    These shots are fantastic.
