I read about this idea years ago in a seed catalog and think it is is so, so lovely! Instead of a regular lawn, plant a Fleur de Lawn! It's grass seed mixed with strawberry clover, sweet alyssum, and wild english daisies.

that’s amazing! you’d always feel like you were in a field of wildflowers.
Oh, I love that idea! You’d get something lovely to look at, and you wouldn’t – couldn’t – mow the lawn! 😉
I wonder if that would work in big flower pots too?
What a fun idea, Tanya. That would be adorable!
This is genius. I’ve been feeling guilty about my lawn and landscaping in general – but this would be perfect.
perfect way to bring beauty and sustainability to your lawn. Forgo the mow!
amazing — to walk through a lawn of wildflowers everyday. so pretty!
I have been tending a section of my yard for a year for just this. Making by spring next year it will be ready.
Lisa: Can’t wait to see!
Yes, isn’t it wonderful? It’s drought tolerant and high in nitrogen, making it extremely eco friendly!!
Love, love, LOVE this!!!! If I had a yard, it would be covered in this beautiful lawn and I would lie in it all day and daydream.
you’d really feel like frolicking in a yard like that! 🙂
i love it! and it’s drought tolerant. genius.
i LOVE this idea!!! thanks for sharing! 🙂
That’s very pretty, but what about mowing? Won’t the grass get too tall?
Bookmarking this for someday when I have a yard. It would be wonderful for children too. I can just imagine my little girl playing in it and picking flowers. She always tells me she wants to walk in “tall grass”. Love this.
Amberdawn: We have these planted all over Portland and I don’t think the grass ever gets too terribly tall but if it did, I think that’s sort of the beauty of it. After the flowers fade, you could mow it.
So lovely! It would be hard to do with my pooch-er-roo, but still, gorgeous to look at!
Along with everyone else…how fabulous!!!
I think there are few things sadder looking than a lawn manicured into so-called perfection. Here’s to more wildflowers on lawns everywhere!
pretty!
I love that idea. Our lawn is currently being taken over by Blue Star Creeper and I couldn’t be happier.
Again – no yard, me, sad. That is a fun idea, I wonder why everyone doesn’t plant a fleur de lawn 🙂
BRILLIANT. i love it.
of course. best idea ever.
yes you are right… flowers everywhere… how could that be wrong?
