Actually, these are Ghillies – soft shoes for Irish Dancing which, traditionally are black. These are more circa 1990’s styling and they aren’t meant to be laced around the ankle but around the instep. I spent most of my youth in these and find it kind of amusing that people want to wear these as a fashion statement. I guess ballerina’s must feel the same way about ballet flats . . .
I had those in the late eighties and early nineties for dance. Super comfortable…I think I still have those babies!
