the little house on the prairie

Cabin

On Monday, I had the chance to drive up North and visit my little brother. He basically lives in The Little House on the Prairie. He built a 300 square foot cabin, post and beam style with no power tools. He has a loft to sleep in, a water pump outside, an outhouse and an outdoor shower. It’s a beautiful spot and makes me think about simplifying my life even further.

  1. So cool! I grew up in a post and beam cabin in the woods of Mississippi, built by my father for less than $5,000. I’ve always identified with Little House!

  2. This is so very cool! I love hearing about people who live like this! My parents lived in a one room plus a loft A- Frame cabin (that my dad built) in Oregon when they had me. I guess that whole lifestyle is in my blood. 🙂

  3. this is awesome + inspiring…every single day i dream of drastically simplifying…selling off loads of stuff and moving the family into a tiny house.
