Here are some photos of the 98th Birthday BBQ I planned. It just had to be yellow. Grace, my grandmother, is the most cheerful, positive person you will ever meet.
I made a little table with a spot for good wishes and a clothesline of old pictures. These are the biggest, roundest balloons (different from the one below) that the Lippman Company
had (I could only fit three in my car). They are 3′ in diameter and
while I was waiting for them to be inflated, the salesgirl told me she
sold the same balloons to The Shins for use in this video. Cool, huh?
The BBQ was delicious (the last for my now vegan sister) and included homemade hamburger and hot dog buns made with fresh chives. As you can see we drank a lot of lemonade. We indulged in lots of cupcakes, and birthday cake all made by my culinary-ily talented sisters and mom! We enjoyed all this food while listening to old Elvis records on the portable Crosley record player.
A photo booth, of course. Click on the first picture to see how cute, stylish and young my 98 yr old grandma is (standing next to my Dad:)! That’s me trying to get niece, Millie (she loved that balloon, it didn’t leave her sight all day) and nephews standing still for 2 seconds, and my cousin, Maddy, matching to a T.
