Cape-meares

I spent a long weekend in Cape Meares with some girlfriends. It's a quiet little nook near Tillamook with gorgeous, massive cliffs, a lighthouse and a quiet, sandy beach. I highly recommend a visit.

We rented a big house, ate homemade meals made by my talented friends (fresh salmon with dill and lemon, seafood soup, and brownies with bourbon carmel sauce to name just a few!) and did a bit of hiking. The weather was windy but mostly quite summer-like! My friend Blainey took this with her point and shoot and I love the composition of it.

  1. Oh, the photo is beautiful but it makes me sad I couldn’t make it to the coast last weekend. When is the weather like that in mid October?

  2. We have only been to Oregon once but we loved it. We drove the coast line and marveled at it’s beauty. We need to make another visit soon…thanks for sharing.

  3. my brother-in-law’s family has a house in cannon beach. i know it’s a little ways away, but this shot reminds me of the time we’ve spent there. one of the loveliest places i’ve been. so glad you got to have a little getaway.

  4. Cape Meares! My fiance’s grandmother lives there; she always has a freezer stocked to the brim with tillamook ice cream.

Are the alpacas still there when you drive in? We sadly haven’t been back since we moved to CA. 🙁 Such a lovely little beach, and I love how deserted it usually is.

  5. We went to the coast the weekend AFTER you went…and the weather was atrocious! We tried to walk along Cannon Beach and there was no beach! The huge stormy waves were beautiful to watch…from the safety of our car. Oh well. Planning vacations to the coast is always a gamble in this state!
