my apartment project + happy weekend to you!

Vintage apartment

I just started a new project. My apartment! I've really done no decorating to my space since moving in a year ago. As you can see the place has great bones but there are some areas that really need a lot of help. I am hoping to make a few simple, thoughtful, affordable changes to make a grown-up, organized space. If you care to join me, I'll be sharing all the details as I go along and luckily, I have some amazing help.  Oh and you can always follow me on Twitter + Facebook for more details and snapshots. More next week!

Have a wonderful weekend!

  1. Oooh, those do look like some lovely bones! It’s all about the details, isn’t it? Clean tile and towel and lush greenery do wonders for making a space more homey. Looking forward to seeing more from this new series. Have a great weekend!

  2. Fun! I’ve been wanting to redecorate so much, but since we’re planning to move in the next few months, there’s not much point. I can’t wait to see what you do!

  3. Oh I can’t wait to see how you develop your lovely apartment decorating project 🙂 I do love the white-brick wall in the photo – is that staying or going?!

I’m following you on Twitter now, by the way – @clairemslight 🙂

  4. Beautiful! I love walls of subway tiles in a bathroom (or a kitchen)–especially with such a beautiful, classic pedestal sink! I’m excited to see where you go with this fun project. Man, those Ikea cotton towels are the best thing they make as far as I’m concerned.

  5. Wow. I can’t wait to follow along. That photo looks so bright and cheery. I wish my apartment had “good bones”. It’s just a very small, rectangle, one room studio. My project isn’t to decorate this year but to pare down. I need more space and since that’s not happening, the only option is to get rid of the useless, stuff I don’t like, don’t need, don’t use. Then, maybe, who knows, new curtains? lol

  6. mmm that tile, those fixtures! Your bathroom has beautiful bones! Can’t wait to see what you do with it – we are in the process of painting ours. Not such great material to work with, but at least we can translate lavendar walls and green trim (seriously?) into white trim and blue-green walls. And once the paint has cured, I think a blik decal in our (painted) shower, some new knobs and hooks on the walls.

  7. I’m an interior designer from Melbourne, Australia – I loved your blog, I found it very inspiring. This is all new to me but I have just set up my own blog
    scrapbook-melissah.blogspot.com
You may like to check it out because I had so much fun doing it.
Thanks for providing me with such great entertainment!
    Cheers
