sophie dahl’s cookbook

Sophie

A well-done cookbook sends me spinning. When I first picked up Miss Dahl's Voluptuous Delights, I was taken back a little. The photography is different. Many of the subjects are out of focus and there is a lot of grain. I really love how lifestyle shots are paired with delectable food photography. The recipes themselves look simple ( love a short ingredient list!).

Jan Baldwin is the awesome photographer behind this book. You can see her portfolio here

  1. These photos are a pure delight, like sophie herself! I bought one few months ago, and I didn’t even cooked a meal yet… Only my eyes are satisfied!

  2. Thanks for sharing the info on Jan Baldwin’s photography- it certainly caught my eye with Miss Dahl’s Voluptuous Delights. A lovely book.

  3. The only cookbook I have ever read cover to cover…and consequently, the only cookbook that has ever made me cry! A good kind of cry.

  4. The cookbook has been on my wishlist for a while, however her TV show from the cookbook has now gained infamy status in the UK as it was pretty much universally panned and loathed, and perhaps with good reason. Sadly the book/show was faux whimsy, annoying, lightweight and twee and as Sophie didn’t do a huge amount of actual cooking on the show, the book has gone way down on my wishlist. The photographs do look lovely though, maybe I’ll give it a go one day and see if it surprises me!

  5. Lovely pictures, the grain and colours are really different to the photography which is normally used for such kind of books.
    Really like it!!

  6. It is so beautiful! I have a cookbook problem, though and am on buying-hiatus ’til I work through some of the ones I already own. : /
